XIII Jesus
is Taken Down From the Cross Vanity Fair No. 20, Vacillation Continuum (crime and punishment) Regarding
imagery, I am continuing to work with a series of serigraphic unique
multiples, each of which feature a wind-up tin toy positioned thematically
within a context designed to expand the conversation and ultimate meaning(s).
The curiosity, innocence, and nostalgia of childhood (tin toys) provide
a warm, inviting counterpart to the immediacy and tense grappling within
an adult world of existential cares and concerns (material and spiritual).
In my most recent series of serigraphic unique multiples, I am seeking
a visual simplicity mysteriously, yet imminently able to burst into
vigorous poetic flame. In this work I use the tin toy element as a metaphor
for the capricious and trivial manner with which I regard the cosmic
difference that the Cross of Christ affords my life and eternal future.
This print is a personal reminder, for me, of my unfortunate tendency
to "speed read" over the wonderful truths presented in Romans
6 and 7. |
